A wall-concealed handwash module of toilets with a service space, suitable for persons with reduced mobility. For installation, an opening of adequate size is needed in the wall that separates the user area and service space. The handwash module is fixed from the side of the service space but installed from the side of the user area. 

The handwash module ensures a completely automatic handwash cycle, started by users with hand proximity. Users start the handwash cycle using a proximity switch, i.e. holding their hands in front of the sensor located in the front part of the washbasin. First, water runs for 2 seconds so that users can wet their hands. Then soap is dispensed for 2 seconds and, after a 4-second break, water runs for 15 seconds. Finally, the hand drier switches on for 20 seconds. 

The stainless steel handwash unit contains a combined vandal-proof tap end which dispenses both water and soap. The liquid soap container, the soap dispensing peristaltic pump and the hand drier unit are installed on the service space side of the hand wash unit.

As a part of a vandal-proof design, vulnerable fixtures and control elements (including the temperature control unit) are installed on service space side.

If a WC module recommended by B&K is installed in the toilet, then – provided that an entry module and/or a communication module is also installed – the system is capable of detecting frost risk. In case of frost risk is detected, the system automatically closes the solenoid valve that provides water and keeps open the valves of the hand wash unit and the other water supply valves. Thus, water can be drained and the system cleaned with air e.g. for winter shutdowns. 

For uninterrupted operation, the water supply of the module needs to be provided from a central water filter. The thermal insulation of the building needs to guarantee the required temperature in the toilet unit. If required, floor, ceiling and threshold heating need to be provided.
